SJSC Latvian Railway (LDZ) in cooperation with Latvian Education Fund for the 10th consecutive year donates additional grants for the best students of railway professions who study in Riga Technical University Railway Transport Institute, Riga Railway Men School and Latgale Transport and Communications Technical School.
Grants are donated twice a year and every student of the above educational institutions is eligible. In order to apply for the grant pretenders should submit a tender work in selected profession, which is evaluated by LDZ expert group. Additional grant for Masters is 70 Ls, for students it is 60 Ls, and for railway technical school students it is 40 Ls. Students may apply for additional grant repeatedly every semester.
Comparing to the previous tenders, a record number of applications were submitted – 13 tender works from RTU students and 35 applications from RRMS and LTCTS students. In total, on March 28, 17 students were donated with an LDZ grant in LU Small aula.
LDZ Chairman of the board Mr. Ugis Magonis said: “cooperation of Latvian Railway and railway oriented educational institutions is crucial for the country because it is one of the possibilities, firstly, to motivate young specialists of railway professions, secondly, to employ young railway engineers for work in LDZ and, thirdly, to increase the prestige of railway professions. We are going to continue cooperation with Latvian Education Fund in order to stimulate the youth to study railway professions, simultaneously providing practice and then job possibilities in LDZ”.
