Latvian Railway (LDz) awarded prize at 18th CineRail corporate film festival

Latvian Railway (LDz) was awarded Golden CineRail prize in 18th annual CineRail film festival held from March 2 – 9 in Paris for corporate film Dream Express produced jointly by Latvian Railway, Riga Railway History Museum and Environmental Film Studio.

Two main Golden CineRail prizes were awarded this year. One of them was awarded to advertising film „Giant” produced by Belgium SNCB Holding Company and the other one was awarded for Latvian corporate short-film Dream Express. Movie portrays a small boy visiting Railway History Museum where he goes to the past in his imagination and visualizes himself as locomotive driver, station attendant and taking a switchman’s role.

Biruta Sakse, Head of Division of External Relations of Latvian Railway, told that jury paid a lot of compliments to the film pointing that this is outstanding example for how to feel the railway. This kind of film can only be made by people, that truly love and understand railway.

There where 47 films representing almost every part of the world this year in the festival.

18th CineRail festival, the world’s only such event of its kind, is organised around the themes of the train and the cinema, and offers the public over the course of a week a broad range of productions, short and feature-length films, documentaries, television spots and corporate films, from all over the world. The common feature of all the films is that they turn the spotlight on all aspects of the railway world, from train journeys and stations to the lives of people and staff working in the railways.
