On 17 May 2008 in the Latvian Railway History Museum there took place a ceremonial event to mark the closing of the actionPride of SJSC Latvijas dzelzceļš. The candidates for this honorary title were nominated by the colleagues, the members of Trade Union of Latvian Railwaymen and Transport, Latvian Railwaymen Society, and the passengers.

Uģis Magonis, Chairman of the Board, SJSC Latvijas dzelzceļš (LDz) presented a ceremonial speech to the candidates and event guests: “This year LDz has started a new tradition for the first time – giving honorary title Pride of SJSC Latvijas dzelzceļš to the nominated employees from LDz. I think this event that will take place in spring annually will be a symbolic and nice event in our company, and will bring pleasant moments in everyday work.”
Each candidate was given a special gift: the ladies received a lavaliere with a chain and the gentlemen - a tie-pin.
