On May 16 this year, SJSC "Latvijas dzelzceļš" (LDz) hosted the General Assembly of RailNetEurope (RNE) in Riga, attended by more than 60 representatives from European railway infrastructure companies, as well as the RNE management. The most important decisions of the organization are taken at the biannual General Assembly meetings, and this time the event took place in Riga.
“RNE is one of the most important organizations in Europe fostering the development of common IT systems and standards for EU railways, which is also one of the current priorities of LDz. We need to work together with a common vision to ensure that railways across Europe play an increasingly important and competitive role in a sustainable transport system,” SJSC "Latvijas dzelzceļš" Chairman of the Board Rinalds Pļavnieks emphasized at opening of the event.
RailNetEurope is an association of European rail infrastructure managers, which serves as an umbrella organization that helps coordinate its members’ international processes in the areas of capacity management, traffic management, corridor management, development of joint IT systems and legal matters.
